The following pages contain three presentations. The first presentation, Modeling the Primary Visual Pathway, is intended as an overview of the aspect of human vision on which the second presentation is based. The work in A Gaussian Derivative Based Transform was published in the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing in March, 1996 [Bloom 1996]. Third is an investigation of one aspect of local functions. This work will be presented at the 1997 IEEE International Conference for Image Processing [Bloom 1997].
