Biographies from the PAST

• George Boole -- Boolean Algebra
• Claude Shannon -- applied Boolean algebra to design circuits and mechanical systems
  
• Ada Lovelace -- first computer programmer, and the programming language ADA is named in her honor.  VHDL has the ADA syntax.
• Charles Babbage -- built the first computer
• Alan Turing -- computer scientist
  
• Maurice Karnaugh -- helped develop the Karnuagh map (or Veitch diagram).  The map was invented by Edward Veitch.
• Frank Gray -- Gray code is named after him.
• W.V. Quine and Edward McCluskey -- developed the Quine-McCluskey method of minimizing boolean algebra expressions.
  
• Logic -- this isn't a biography but it does present a history.
